The Massachusetts Department of Revenue (MDOR) is a state agency that offers free technical assistance for municipalities, including general assessments of financial condition, financial policy manuals, and capital planning studies. Most communities in MA have had at least one of these services conducted by MDOR in the past 20 years, but not Leominster. Despite several requests by Leominster residents and resolutions by the City Council going back to 2011, Leominster has yet to take advantage of this no-cost and non-punitive guidance from experts. Only the Mayor of Leominster has the authority to request MDOR's assistance, and I want Leominster's taxpayers to benefit from it as soon as possible. During my first month in office, I pledge to ask MDOR to conduct a financial management review of our city government.
Leominster, MA - On April 26, 2021, Andrea M. Freeman received notice from the Leominster City Clerk’s Office that her campaign has received over three hundred certified nomination signatures and she will appear on the ballot as a candidate for mayor of Leominster. This milestone is well in advance of the August 3rd deadline to submit nomination signatures. The Freeman Campaign gathered signatures safely during the COVID-19 pandemic by collaborating with dozens of local supporters and organizing a citywide signature-gathering effort by partnering with fourteen other municipal candidates within Leominster.
Leominster’s municipal election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Any necessary preliminary elections will take place on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.
